The Solar System Test #1

Hi scientists! On today’s post you will take a test on the Solar System and Beyond pages 1-3. This test will help you know what areas you need to work on. As we move along, the lessons will get harder and so will the test. Are you ready? Good luck!

c)   Asteroid belt
d)   Sun
2.   What holds the solar system together? _______________________
3.   Why isn’t Pluto a planet anymore?
a)   Because it is too small
b)   Because it doesn’t follow a clear orbit around the sun

  1. Answer key:
    1. c
    2. gravity
    3. b
    4. for this question, you can have more than one answer. Each slash represents another answer you can have : inner plaets have rocky surfaces and outer planets are made of gas/ Inner planets are way smaller than outer planets/ Inner planets have one or no moons and outer planets have many moons/ Inner planets are in the front of the asteroid belt and outer planets are in the back/ Inner planets are closer to the sun and outer planets are farther away from the sun.
    5. a
    6. d
    7. Because stars produce different amounts of light/ because the closest the star is to Earth, the brighther it seems
    8. Mercury, Venus, Earth, Mars
    9. Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune
    10. a
    11. d
    12. a
    13. c
    14. one or no moons, closest to the sun, made of rocky surfaces
    15. many moons, made of gas and ice, really faraway from sun
    16. Mercury, venus, Earth, Mars, Jupiter, Saturn, Uranus, Neptune
